Everyone gets the opportunity to receive and if there is no touch on the block or dig, your score goes back to zero. Coach uses this drill after a game that was lacking defensive pursuit or to promote energy at practice.
Drill begins with a ball thrown in to one side, team plays the ball by passing to the setter who sets the outside and the left side hitter swings. If the team receiving the attack digs the ball to their setter, the setter yells out the number of points her team has and they continue to play. Each time the ball is hit or tipped over the net, the 3 back row players rotate to their left and the left side goes to right back (unless there are people waiting to come in - then they go in the line ...

Another specification of this drill is that the blockers or defensive players take a step forward while defending their hitters. Dig or die drill. This drill significantly improves the defensive strategy of a team. This drill involves two teams of five players each. A ball is tossed to one team, and the drill begins. The score is rallied like usual.
